Jazz evening slated for April 23

Jazz numbers from artists as diverse as Sting, Sondheim, the Jackson Five and Count Basie will be performed by Chadron State College student vocalists April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in Memorial Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Performers include, Zachary Banzhaf, Sarah Hammer Zachary Henderson, Joelle Keith, Brendan Mead, Lauren Morris, Derek Phelps, Scott Reffert, Arielle Tiensvold and Jacob Wirth. Those playing in the combo are Tanner Johns on guitar, Conrad Gachne on bass, Brooks Hafey on piano and Dr. Sandy Schaefer on drums.

The instrumental portion of the program will include music from the 1920, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. On saxophone: Tess Grebner, Drew Kasch, Alesha Siebe, and Sean DeHaven.

Katie Whalen, baritone and clarinet. The trumpet section includes Jacob Wirth, Curtis Stevens, Lane Swedberg and Andy Martin.

Trombone players are Nathan Snyder, A.J. Maser and Zach Kirchmeyer. Tommy Miller, tuba. The rhythm section features Amy Graham, piano; Derek Phelps, piano; Tanner Johns, guitar; Thomas Frear, guitar and percussion, Conrad Gachne, bass; Michael Mead, bass; Kaleb Britton, percussion; and Emily Lisko, percussion.
